ABS plastic

What is ABS plastic and what is its use?

ABS plastic is actually a thermoplastic polymer known as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.  ABS stands for Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and shows how the material reacts to heat.  In fact, thermoplastic polymers react differently to heat and liquefy instead of melting at room temperature.  This means that particular type of polymer liquefies at a certain temperature and even after reaching the melting point and cooling, they can be reheated.  This unique feature makes thermoplastics easy to recycle or use in other jobs.

ABS thermoplastic polymers are a type of raw material used in the manufacture of plastic products.  These raw materials constitute a wide range of industrial and consumer products.  ABS plastic is a special type of plastic that has unique properties and because of these unique properties along with a reasonable price, it is one of the most widely used polymers.

Advantages of ABS plastic and its application

Features of ABS plastic include high resistance to chemical reactions and physical shocks.  Low melting temperature is another advantage of this type of polymer, because it melts at low temperatures and will be desired.  This plastic is composed of various compounds and has various properties, among which can be high machinability, flexibility and good formability, good resistance and balance in the face of heat, good surface hardness, high resistance to reactions Chemical and physical and all kinds of shock and stress and …

One of the strongest reasons why ABS plastic is used in home appliance products and industries is its high resistance to chemical reactions, which makes it a safe and reliable food material.  Due to these properties, ABS plastic is used in the construction of the body of home appliances, the manufacture of body parts, the production of tools, the plating industry and the production of refrigeration insulation, etc.

Limitations of ABS polymer

ABS plastic also has limitations and in fact disadvantages that include low resistance to scratches and corrosion, low dielectric strength, poor weather resistance, flammability and weak UV rays ….

Of course, to overcome these limitations and eliminate these disadvantages, alloys have been considered for this plastic.  In fact, these limitations can be overcome by adding and combining certain alloys or changing the number of monomers.  It should be noted that ABS plastic can be combined with plastics such as PC and PA; Because these 2 plastics can be allied with each other, and thus their properties are improved and obvious and improved properties appear in them.
